PM Warns Lawsuit Against Opposition Party for Attacking CPP

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has told Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) lawyers in all provinces to prepare to sue officials of the opposition party who accuse the CPP of election fraud and campaign against the CPP.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion and upgrade of National Road No. 7 in Kampong Cham province on Monday morning, 9 January, Prime Minister Hun Sen called on all political parties to avoid attacking the CPP while propagating their own party.

"Do you want to be an enemy of the CPP? Propagate only your policy and avoid attacking the CPP. Please be warned; if you continue, we will exercise our right to defend ourselves," he said.

Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the CPP will not tolerate allegations made against the party and will react in two ways, either by filing a lawsuit or gathering CPP members to make a counterattack.

"If you refuse to stop, you leave us no choice," he said.
